Terms of service

Quotes and invoices

Project work is quoted in writing before it starts, in US dollars (USD) unless the invoice says otherwise. Invoices are due by the date shown on the invoice unless otherwise agreed. Work may pause on accounts with overdue invoices.

Invoices can be paid by card, Apple Pay or Google Pay through Stripe, in instalments through Klarna or Affirm where offered (an instalment plan is an agreement between you and that provider, under its terms), or by Interac e-Transfer.

Plans

Domain and care plans renew automatically at the interval shown in your portal. You can request a cancellation at any time from the Plans page; cancellation takes effect at the end of the current period. Domains stay registered in your name.

Deposits

Website builds are quoted with a deposit of 10–50% of the quote (the exact percentage is shown in your portal) that is due once the first template of your site has been shared with you, and a balance that is due before the site launches on your domain. The deposit covers work already scheduled and performed and is non-refundable once the build has begun, except where McBean Digital is unable to deliver the agreed work.

Third-party connections

The portal can connect to services you control, such as Google Search Console and Google Analytics, so that their data appears in your account. You grant this access voluntarily, it is read-only, and you can withdraw it at any time. Those services remain subject to their own terms, and McBean Digital is not responsible for their availability or the accuracy of the data they report.

Ownership

Once a build invoice is paid you own the site's design, content and code. Third-party licences (fonts, stock imagery, plugins) remain subject to their own terms.

Support

Care plans include reasonable monthly content edits and monitoring. Larger changes are quoted separately. Support requests are handled through the portal during business hours, Monday to Friday.

Your account

You are responsible for keeping your login details private and for activity under your account. Let me know right away if you believe someone else has access. You may close your account at any time by opening a support ticket.

Liability

I take uptime seriously, but no host can promise 100% availability. McBean Digital's liability is limited to the fees paid for the affected service in the preceding month.

These terms may be updated from time to time; the date at the top shows the current version. They are governed by the laws of Canada. Questions can be sent through the contact page.
